We have an update to the story we brought you yesterday.
Twenty-year-old Dmitriy Andreychenko walked into a Walmart in Missouri wearing body armor, a handgun, a rifle and over 100 rounds of ammunition.
Understandably panic ensued with alarms going off and people yelling “Get out now! Get out now!”
An off-duty firefighter detained Andreychenko until officers arrived.
No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Here’s the update: Andreychenko told authorities the whole incident was a social experiment.
He just wanted to know if Walmart honored the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms.
Missouri is also an open carry state.
It is not against the law for people over 19 years old to openly carry guns so long as the firearms were obtained legally.
Andreychenko was recording the entire time in case someone stopped him or asked him to leave the store.
He says he did not intend to cause a panic.
His wife and sister told him beforehand that the idea was not smart especially considering the recent shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
Missouri authorities say Andreychenko will be charged with making a terrorist threat.
