Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches back – permanently!
The chain ran out of inventory in August after just two weeks because of what it called “extraordinary demand.”
It was driven by a viral social media spat with other fast food chains and America’s growing appetite for chicken.
Now after a two-month wait, Popeyes started selling the popular sandwich on Sunday, November 3.
Popeyes tweeted: “Y’all…The sandwich is back. This Sunday. Yes. Sunday.”
That appears to be a dig at rival Chick-fil-A which is not open on Sundays.
And it appears consumers were anxiously awaiting the return of the chicken sandwich.
There were several reports of long lines of cars wrapped around Popeyes stores all around the country Sunday night.
