Greyhound giving free tickets to runaways who want to return home

According to the National Runaway Safeline, between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away every year the US.

For the past ten years, Greyhound Lines has partnered with the agency to reunite young people with their families and guardians through the “Home Free Program.”

The bus company provides free bus tickets for people between 12 and 21 years old.

But there are stipulations.

The young person must be on an official runaway report and be willing to be returned to their family.

The family or guardian must also be willing to take them back in.

A person can only get a ticket home through the program twice.

If you or someone you know is a runaway and looking for a way to get home, here is the number to call on the screen.

In addition to a ticket home, National Runaway Safeline will work with the runaway and their guardian to locate resources in the community to provide support once a person is home again.
