Walmart and the website NextDoor are making it easier for neighborhoods to help each other during the coronavirus pandemic
They are jointly launching a program called “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”
Members of NextDoor can now request assistance or offer to help someone in their community which shopping at their local Walmart.
Here’s how it works: Members log onto the NextDoor website or app and click on the Groups tab.
They will see Walmart stores in their area where “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” is available.
Membership share a message in the Group feed to indicate if they need help or want to offer help, then coordinate pickup and delivery of groceries, medications or other essential items.
The program is available in cities nationwide.
NextDoor’s CEO says the “neighborly touch” can make all the difference to vulnerable people like seniors and those most susceptible to Covid-19.
