Friday the Hennepin County attorney announced Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
His bond was set at $500,000.
According to the court records, Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes even after Floyd became unresponsive.
The Minneapolis Police Department fired Chauvin.
The other three officers involved are still under investigation and prosecutors say they will likely face charges now that new video has emerged.
This video depicts the moments before the previously known eyewitness video of Floyd’s death.
Here you see three officers holding Floyd down, kneeling on his body.
Floyd could be heard saying “Mama I love you.”
Protesters are now calling for the arrest of the other former officers.
Angry protesters also drew in chalk on the road and sidewalk outside Chauvin’s home.
The message said “A murderer lives here.”
No one was home.
Chauvin’s wife Kellie left him and file for divorce on Friday.
