Wednesday Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markel spoke out on George Floyd’s death in a virtual graduation speech to her high school.
In March Meghan stepped back with her husband Prince Harry from royal duties.
Meghan addressed the students of Immaculate Heart High in Los Angeles saying that “George Floyd’s life mattered.”
She also listed the names of other black people who died at the hands of police brutality and referred to the lives of “so many other people” whose names we do not know.
Meghan said she was sorry that we live in a world where this is still happening.
And that even though this may not be the celebration imagined, she encouraged students to use their voices and become leaders.
