In an interview with ABC News, longtime Jeopardy host Alex Trebek said he may not be hosting the popular game show for much longer.
Trebek was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March.
He promised fans he will continue to host the show as long as his skills don’t diminish.
He did not disclose when he will stop appearing on the series but he already knows how he will say goodbye.
He says he will ask the director to time the show down to leave him thirty seconds at the end.
He says that’s all the time he will need to say goodbye to his 36-year career as Jeopardy host.
He says his final speech will say something like: “Don’t ask me who’s going to replace me because I have no say whatsoever. But I’m sure if you give them the same love, attention and respect that you’ve shown me, then they will be a success and the show will continue being a success. And until we meet again, God bless and goodbye.”
