In the midst of the violence and destruction, there have also been several strikingly powerful yet peaceful protests that send a strong message.
Take a look at this.
Dozens of protesters gathered in front of a Minnesota police station and dropped to their knees in front of a line of state police and National Guard members.
They chanted “Hands up, don’t shoot.”
And a few miles away at the Hennepin Avenue bridge, hundreds of people stopped their protest, dropped to their knees and prayed for justice.
City officials all across the country say they welcome peaceful protests but draw the line when peaceful protests turn violent.
